The Vélo Francette

From La Manche to La Rochelle, the Vélo Francette is a 600-kilometre cycle route.

From Caen to Ouistreham, from the city to the sea

The Vélo Francette itinerary can be followed in either direction. We're going to look at the last part of the journey: from Caen to Ouistreham.

This journey takes you all the way to the English Channel by bike, taking in some not-to-be-missed sights.

Pegasus bridge and its museum
First of all, the Pegasus Bridge is on your way.

The Memorial recounts the arrival of the first liberators of the British 6th Airborne Division in Normandy on the night of 5-6 June 1944.

A guided tour is offered to travellers where you can discover the real Pegasus Bridge in the museum gardens.

The Orne estuary
In Calvados, the Orne estuary is a protected site that has been classified as a sensitive natural area.

You'll have the chance to discover it in a whole new way on your Vélo Francette route from Caen to Ouistreham.

Ride along the rivers and streams of the Orne valley to soak up the sweet flavours of the region.

The Pointe du Siège
At the heart of the Orne estuary, the Pointe du Siège is an incredible dune belt that is a must-see.

It is home to some remarkable flora and fauna. Take a break at the observation route to admire the birds in the lagoons and witness the natural beauty of the site before your very eyes.
