Sword Beach

A 25-minute drive from our hotel

Attributed to British soldiers, it was on this beach that French commandos also fought. The beach is located in three communes: Hermanville-sur-Mer, Colleville-Montgomery and Colleville-sur-Orne.

 

Omaha Beach, the Normandy American Cemetery and the Omaha Beach Memorial Museum

This is where the American forces landed. The beach is known as 'Bloody Omaha' because of the high number of Allied casualties. A memorial has been erected on Avenue de la Libération in Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer.

Gold Beach was an area allocated to the British and played a major role in the aftermath. With its artificial harbour, Gold Beach was able to secure the unloading of vehicles, equipment and soldiers.
