A new venue for the 2023 event
The Caen Open Tennis Tournament is a must for fans of the yellow ball. The tournament offers spectators an immersive sporting experience up close to the players. Conceived in 2023, the main aim was to raise the profile of the region's biggest tennis club after some dark years.
Little by little, the tennis tournament grew and the Tennis Club de Caen venue became too small to accommodate the professional players, partners and curious spectators.
In 2011, the doors of Caen's Zénith opened to make way for the magic of the show. This year's edition, 2023, will see another turning point: the Palais des Sports.
A host of champions
When you look at the record of achievements of the Caen Open de Tennis, the names of the tennis players and women are not unfamiliar to anyone. On the men's side, the tournament has already been won by :
- Paul-Henri Mathieu (2008 and 2009) ;
- Marc Gicquel (2010);
- Gilles Simon (2011 and 2019);
- Richard Gasquet (2012);
- Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (2015, 2016 and 2019) ;
- Holger Rune (2022).
- Elina Svitolina (2017 and 2018);
- Aliaksandra Sasnovich (2019) ;
- Alizée Cornet (2021) ;
- Martina Trevisan (2022).
